RIGA COMM 2026: What Baltic Companies Still Get Wrong About NIS2

Author: Mārtiņš Jurjāns Time: 14.10.2026

RIGA COMM 2026 strengthened Primend's presence across the Baltics

More than 3,000 attendees, 139 exhibitors and 244 speakers gathered in Riga for one of the Baltic region's largest B2B technology events. For Primend, RIGA COMM 2026 was an opportunity to strengthen relationships with customers and partners, meet new organisations and share practical lessons from real-world NIS2 projects.

Over two days, the Primend team met business and technology leaders from across the Baltics. While technologies and priorities differed, many conversations centred around the same challenge: how to turn cybersecurity requirements into practical business processes and measurable resilience.

This topic was also at the heart of Mārtiņš Jurjāns' presentation,"What We've Learned Helping Companies Achieve NIS2 Compliance". Drawing on Primend's experience working with organisations across the Baltics, the session highlighted several misconceptions that continue to delay cybersecurity improvement efforts. These include the belief that NIS2 is solely an IT responsibility, that additional security tools automatically create compliance, or that policies and backups alone guarantee preparedness.

A meeting place for Baltic business and technology leaders

RIGA COMM has established itself as one of the most important meeting places for decision-makers, technology providers and business leaders in the Baltic region. The event brings together organisations looking for practical solutions to improve productivity, strengthen security and accelerate digital transformation.

For Primend, participation is not primarily about visibility. It is an opportunity to understand how organisations across different industries are approaching technology investments, cloud adoption and cybersecurity. Conversations at this year's event highlighted a clear trend: companies are increasingly looking for partners who can combine technology expertise with business understanding and long-term strategic guidance.

Strengthening relationships across the Baltics

As a Baltic company, Primend sees significant value in meeting customers, partners and prospective clients from Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania in one place.

The event provided an opportunity to strengthen existing relationships, establish new connections and discuss cooperation opportunities with organisations facing similar technology and cybersecurity challenges. It also confirmed that many companies across the region are dealing with the same questions around resilience, compliance and risk management, regardless of industry or market.

Internal planning for the event focused on cybersecurity services, cyber insurance, lead generation and creating meaningful conversations with organisations looking to improve their security posture and operational resilience.

What companies are still getting wrong about NIS2

The most valuable insight shared during the event came from real customer experience.

In his presentation, Mārtiņš Jurjāns focused on the misconceptions that Primend repeatedly encounters while helping organisations prepare for NIS2 requirements. According to these experiences, the biggest challenges are rarely technical. More often, organisations struggle with ownership, accountability, supplier management, recovery planning and incident response processes.

One of the key messages was that cybersecurity cannot be treated as an isolated IT initiative. While technology teams implement controls and external partners provide expertise, responsibility for cyber resilience ultimately remains with management. Another recurring misconception is that security tools, policies or backups automatically create preparedness. True resilience is demonstrated when an organisation can respond effectively during an incident and continue operating under pressure.

Rather than focusing solely on compliance, companies should focus on operational readiness: understanding critical assets, supplier dependencies, recovery capabilities and decision-making responsibilities before an incident occurs. This shift in thinking is where many organisations create the greatest business value from their cybersecurity investments.

Looking ahead

For Primend, RIGA COMM 2026 delivered exactly what events of this scale should deliver: valuable conversations, stronger relationships and insights into the challenges organisations are trying to solve today.

As cybersecurity, compliance and digital transformation continue to evolve, events like RIGA COMM remain an important platform for sharing practical experience and building partnerships that help organisations move from requirements to real-world business resilience.
